post TT

by Laura20, Jul 23, 2008 03:06PM
Had TT in March. Still feeling very tired, dry skin& constipation. Dr does not want to check levels again since last levels were ok. Tsh less than 1. Also having trouble sleeping @ noc. Trouble getting to sleep & wake up several times. This may be hormonal. Tried melatonin & that helps somewhat. Just can't get motivated & I sruggle to get through day.Has anyone ever expericed this or taken a while to recover post tt? Just really regreting surgery & feel I will never feel better.

I had a PT. I can tell you that from reading what you wrote and how others have felt and recovered from their surgeries, whether it was PT or TT you experience the same. I had the PT in May.  My TSH 2 weeks after surgery was 0.6.  The same as it was on 1/22/08.  One thing though, I am not experiencing constipation. Are you eating something different or not drinking enough water?   What was the reason for your TT?

Did he check your Free T3 level? What medicine are you on? If you are on a T4 only medicine and you aren't converting properly you can remain hypo. He should of run a TSH, Free T4 and Free T3. I would ask for copy of bloodwork so you can see what was run.
Then post your results with the ranges here...that way we can see if your T4 level is high normal which could show conversion problem maybe. Just a thought. :)
You certainly sound like you are still hypo. I get constipated when my level goes off.

I had multiple nodules causing tracheal compression. I also have Hashimotos. Probably not drinking enought water. I just don't want to eat or drink much. When do you start to feel better? I just would like to see a light @ the end of this tunnel.

Please can someone help? Will I ever get better?

Unfortunately with Hashimotos there is not a definate answer to when you will feel better. There are a lot of us here going through the same thing looking for our light at the end of the tunnel. You need to make sure your levels are kept at optimum levels. TSH should be at .50-1.0, and your Free T4 and Free T3 levels HAVE to be checked.
