High AM Cortisol

by laura1967, Jul 23, 2008 03:40PM
I am a hypothyroid with hashi's patient. I  have had continual High AM Cortisol results since Feb. 2008. I have had normal 24 hr urine cortisol test, normal dexamethasone suppression test (overnight low dosage). My endo has suggested maybe we should still do an MRI of the pituitary and adrenals, because of several high results with the am cortisol tests. We have even discussed cyclical cushings possibly from a tumor.
What is your advice on this?  Is there something being missed?
Thank you.

Unlikely something is being missed.  Cyclical cushings is rare, but possible.  Usually we don't do imaging with chemistry diagnosis as there are incidental adrenal and pituitary lumps that have no clinical significance, but a lack of such a lump may be reassuring.
