After treatment effects

by Con_fused, Jul 23, 2008 07:58PM
To cut a story short, happened 2 mths ago in South East Asia, unprotected oral & protected sex, diagnosed in by the country with gonorrhea 3 weeks after exposure, given a course of doxycycline 1.5gm, ciproflaxin 1gm, rifampicin1.2gm and levoflovaxin 0.75gm. Finished all courses in 7 days.
Subsequently, after 2 weeks went for a blood test for STDs, they were unable to do urine test thus relying on antibodies detection. All came back negative; chlamydia and gonorrhea antibodies below stated standard.
The problems are I still find pain at the tip of my penis, skin at the head of penis is wrinkled and lips are still puffy.
Other than that, there are no other symptoms of possible std. The local doctor who treated me told me that it will take time to heal, no definative period given.
Could there still be any latent stds not treated?

It sounds as if you've been tested for everything, and it came back negative.

If you haven't had a prostate exam done, that should be your next step.

This sounds bad. My urine flow feels fine nor is there any pain while urinating. Of course, the meatus seems slightly larger but it could be due to anything.
What should I be looking for?

Don't "look" for anything - just get the exam done.

Does it not blow things to a higher level? Please understand, I am still in a foreign location where medical care is still way off what we usually have, not to mention communication is an issue. Even my stds testing was done using only blood test. However,it does ease my mind a bit. What other possibilities am I looking at?
Could it be trauma of the uretha which will take time to heal?

Since you mention prostate, it got me thinking on all different possibilities. Is std still there? Judging by the amount of meds I was taking, it seems unlikely or the meds were not working.

Anyone have similar conditions?

If you had a gonorrhea infection in your prostate, and it was cured, you could still have inflammation in the prostate.

I know you are not in the best situation for medical care, but gonorrhea symptoms, or side effects, so to speak, wouldn't linger for 2 months.  Yes, it can take some time for things to all calm down, but it wouldn't take 2 months in the urethra.
