Lower back pain (left of center) after digital rectal exam

by Greg213, Jul 23, 2008 11:59PM
Helped some friends move about a month ago; weather was warm; feet sweat and swelled in evening.  Swelling remained consistent, day and night, for about two weeks, when I went for a physical with my internist with the specific issue of dealing with the swollen feet and ankles, with some dry mouth.  He performed ECHO (spelling?), EKG, ultrasound, stress test and blood work.  In general, tests were negative (LDL and HDL were within appropriate ranges), but triglycerides were high, according to recognized scale.  I'm about 25-30 pounds overweight (5'7", 175#).  He performed a digital rectal exam (not my first) and sampling for PSA test.  About an hour after the physical, BEFORE I was to help some friends move, I noticed I had a lot of lower back pain, left of center.   Pain was and has been more moderated since that day, but still there.  Swelling appears to occur during hot weather, but may still be an issue.  Question: What type of Drs (specialists) should I see?  Urologist? Kidney specialist? Orthopedic for back? Colorectal? Separate ones for each? I see no need to return to internist at this point.  Thank you in advance.
