Microscopic Diverticulosis

I had a colonoscopy yesterday and the doctor said he took a sample to test for microscopic diverticulosis.  What is that??  My Mom has diverticulitis, and I always thought that I had it too, because it hurts when I eat rice, corn and nuts.  I usual stay away from those foods, but if I eat them I will pay in pain for weeks.  What gives?

Diverticulosis and colitis are very different. With the colitis, they're looking under the surface to see if there's either a proliferation of lymphocytes (white cells), or if there is a thickening of a layer of the tissue callled the collagen layer.

With diverticulosis the doc would see 'pockets' however small on the surface.

So I suspect it could be he was checking for MC, although I could be wrong.

Just Goggled MC.  Definitely don't have that.  I never have diarrhea.  Thanks for the help though.
