I really need to know about this ct scan thing?

by TXMomOfFaith, Jul 24, 2008 09:46AM
I went to the doc yesterday because I am having one side pains, cramps, tingling and such in mostly my left arm, shoulder, armpit, back and neck. She told me it was probably just stressed caused fibro, perhaps even just my hypothyroid, I told her I get headaches and jaw pains with a little facial tingling and such on that on side too. She then suggested I get a ct scan done. (honestly I think the facial and headache stuff is because of the jaw an neck pains). Anyway, I want to make sure it is totally safe on my thyroid to get a ct scan of the brain. I have a large suspitious nodule on my left lobe that came back as atypical cells. It is being removed on Sept. 5th.

Hi. I had a CT scan of the brain due to an ongoing headache problem and i am also hypothyroid. The scan has no effects on your thyroid. This would probably only happen if you got a CT scan done of the thyroid/ neck area. Hope this helps.

Ask about whether contrast dye will be used, and if there is a contrast dye that is iodine free.

The contrast dye would be my only concern.
