I also had two surgeries.  The first one was a bikini line cut to remove a large complex cyst tumor which was ovarian cancer.  The second surgery was a vertical cut from belly button to bikini line for full hysterectomy.  I found the first surgery to be more taxing on my energy and harder to recover from, but I knew what to expect from the first surgery so I think that helped.  I knew to make sure and walk as soon as I could in the hospital, and to take the pain medicine they offered it does help healing better.  Everyone is different though, but I found the hysterectomy a breeze compared to first surgery.
I'm sorry for your diagnosis.
Take care.

I had a C section (emergency, with a vertical incision) years ago.  The hysterectomy used the same vertical incision.  My recovery was SO easy from the second surgery, because all the nerve endings had been severed in the first surgery. I've had another surgery in which the same incision was used, with the same incredibly painless recovery the second time.  The first surgeries using those scars were pretty horrible, but the second were a cinch!

I hope you have the same luck as I did!

I have had two surgeries, the 2nd one was the same vertical inscision.   It wasn't so bad the 2nd time around, you also know what to expect.

Surgery is scary no matter what.

Sorry about the diagnosis, but, you found the best group on in the world to be part of.  If you have any questions, please ask....we will support you any way we can.

Good luck and stay in touch,
Pam

At least you will only have one scar -- it shouldn't be any worse than the first time -- I actually didn't have as much pain from the hysterectomy as I was expecting.  Just listen to the doctors and take it easy.  When the scar seems completely closed, I would recommend Mederma to make the scar less noticeable -- it may be a small thing but when you are bald and feeling icky it helps to know that at least after your hair grows back you will have a thin line instead of a trench on your belly --- good luck with the surgery (and remember to hold a hard pillow to your belly when you cough or laugh really hard -- it helps from feeling like you are going to open up the incision.)
