Feeling Discouraged......

by kris777, Jul 24, 2008 11:31AM
I am 39 weeks and went in for my doctor check-up today thinking surely my little man wants to come out soon, but I am only dilated to 1.5 and barely thinned.  So nothing really changed from last week even though I have been having lots more BH and sometimes they feel really strong!  I really don't want to go past my due date because will be EXTREMELY busy starting Aug. 25th because I start my Radiography program:(  UGH....sorry I had to vent a little!!

Sorry you're feeling discouraged. :( I'm pregnant w/my first so I can't speak from experience, but I understand your frustration. I am really anxious for how long my labor will be; especially since I just had a friend who didn't give birth until the middle of her 41st week, and she started having serious contractions like 2 weeks before that! UGH!! I am praying that doesn't happen to me (or you!!) but it's a good idea to mentally prepare for the possibility. The baby will come when he's ready and when he's meant to.... the good thing is that he's safe and healthy, and you are too. Hang in there - the longest it will possibly be (though unlikely) is another couple weeks, then you will have your precious baby in your arms. I wish you the very best!!

I wouldnt get too upset about it, things can change really fast when labor does start. Lots of woman start off labor without being dialated or having thinned out much.  Have you been walking alot or doing anything eles to get things moving along?

I had to be induced at 41 weeks because I was only 1.5 cm dilated and only 50% effaced.  Well they barely had to induce me and bam I went into labor in no time.  Only 7 hours of labor.  Things can change very quickly so don't be so discouraged.  Good luck.

oh hon... i know how you feel... i was almost 2 weeks over due with my first baby. its really tough. but like the other gals said... things can change sooo quickly, hang in there... im sure you'll have your baby in your arms in no time... good luck to you!!

Don't worry.  With my first, I was 2 cm from 36 weeks on.  He was born on his own 2 days before my due date.  I always start to dialate at 36 weeks but never have them early really.  I have never gone past my due date.

Thanks for the responses.....I do feel better than I did earlier:)  I guess I need to be patient and let him come when he is ready!  I haven't really been walking much more than I have to because my pelvis hurts really bad--its almost not worth it.  I guess no matter what now in the big scheme of things, it truly won't be long.

Good luck to everyone and thanks:)

If you want a SURE FIRE way to have that baby and move things along....

HAVE SEX WITH YOUR HUBBY!  LOL.  I swear...I made my husband do it until we were sore...and the next evening...I had her!  LOL!  Sorry if that is TMI...but it worked...AND...my hubby appreciated the "fix" before it was absent.  :)

I didn't really feel like it...but it sure did work!
