Need to VENT....

Hey ladies!!  Hope everyone is having a great pregnancy :)  I just need to vent...  I found out I was pregnant June. 3rd, and had my first dr's appointment on June. 11th...during that appointment my doctor was supposed to give a referral to see the other doctor in the building b/c she was going on mat leave in July... I had my first pre-natal on July. 9th with my Dr. before she went on mat leave. She forgot to put the referral in and said she will do it ASAP.  I was upset with the appointment b/c she answered all my questions quickly and didn't even let me hear the heartbeat.  She was just rude that day.  Anyways I got a call from the doctor's office today and found out my appointment is scheduled Aug. 27th.  I was sooo upset that its over a month away.  I'm going to be almost 4 months pregnant without knowing anything!!! No ultrasound or even hearing the heartbeat.  I cried and cried (and this is the 2nd time crying for me since I found out I was pregnant) cause everyone else I know at least got to hear the heartbeat already and I have to wait yet over another month.  Is this normal? Am I just over reacting?  Thanks for listening and letting me vent!!!

Megz, I completely understand, and I do not know why they wouldnt schedule an appt earlier for you. I had an u/s at 6 weeks only because of my prior problems and spotting, but still, my technical "first" u/s is scheduled for this coming tuesday, at 12 weeks, to hear the heartbeat and measure the baby. I dont understand why they are making you wait so long. I would be upset too, especially since the doctor was rude to you last time. Is it at all possible to talk to someone and get in any earlier? Most places only do 2 ultrasounds, and having your first be that far away means you will have to wait even longer for the second one if you wanted to find out the sex of the baby. I would call and get some answers personally.

I don't really know your situation all that well, but I would find a different Dr. Being treated like that is unacceptable. Unfortunately depending on how far you were, they can't hear a heartbeat ubtil at the least 9-10 weeks if you are lucky unless it is by a vaginal u/s. That may be why she didn't offer but being rushed and having an attitude is unacceptable. You are paying her she is not doing this out of the goodness of her own heart. You can always call and say you are having pain and spotting and need to see the dr sooner. I know it sounds bad to fib a little, but sometimes people need a litle push or incentive. My Dr. is very attentive and informative, however for other reasons we are considering trying a different OBGYN. There's nothing wrong with checking out your options. If they know you could possibly leave they might be willing to do something to keep ur business... Its worth a try!! Good Luck!!

I was too going nuts waiting to hear the heartbeat just to know everything was ok...I was 9wks so not near as far as you. I cried in relief hearing it! I had to wait till I was insured and made my husband marry me earlier than our originally planned date just so I could know everything was ok...so I know what you're goin thru and do too feel really bad you have to wait so long. Have faith and stay strong! Everything will be just fine...don't worry! Maybe you can check into a different doctor if you really can't wait like me. Good luck and hopefully you'll hear it soon!

I am so sorry you are being treated this way. I was really glad I made the switch to an ob/gyn after my son was born (it was the same one we were referred to after I got gestational diabetes). I hated that when I called the appts seemed to take forever to get and my doctor would be very nonchalant at times. I remember once I had some spotting well okay one spot and he was all like well we are going to be very calm and relaxed about this blah blah blah but then when he went out to talk to his supervising doc (he was an intern) he came flying back in and was all rushed to get us in for an ultrasound and telling me I should of called the moment I saw the blood and I was very taken aback and not to mention incredibly nervous all of the sudden. Surprisingly seeing that one tiny spot of blood I didn't think anything of it. I couldn't even imagine my reaction if that happened now. Get a new doc so you can start enjoying this pregnancy!!!

I also recommendo - to find a new doctor. Waiting another month is insane. I finally found a doctor I like. I went to 3 doctors after deciding with whom i will stay.
