Laposcropy - Ovarian cyst removal - recovery am I over doing it?

by invisiblecities, Jul 24, 2008 02:57PM
I had laposcropy done 7 weeks ago now.  I came back to work after 2 weeks doing only desk work and then after 5 weeks I walked a job site in 2 hours (normally takes an hour).  Then after 6 weeks flew to another state, walked 1 job in one city and a second in another, flying back home the same day making for a 14 hour day.  I'm am sore, with the pain coming and going at the incision sites and I feel exhausted by the end of the day....3 days later.  Moreso, there is (and has been most of the healing process) what appears to be puss at two of the incision sites.  I have been putting bactroban on them and the wounds appear to be closing but they are still so sore.  Pain medicine Hydrocodone or Ibuprofen (400 mg) aren't working.  Any suggestions?  Is the puss normal at this point? Did I over do it???

I had a laparoscopy done in Feb. to remove my ovary, tube and a big cyst. I was feeling pretty normal by the end of a week and after 2 weeks I had no restrictions. I still had a bit of tenderness at the incision sites but certainly no sign of infection (pus). You should be checked out by your doctor. Perhaps one of the stitches is still embedded in there and causing some irritation. I worked mine out over the 2 week period, gently picking at them till they would slide out. Something is wrong if you still need such strong pain med as hydrocodone. They gave me oxycontin and I didn't use it (tried it 2 times but hated the dizziness and headache). Do see your doctor.
