Sex with Escort, condom fell off

Hi Doctor,
I have read many of the posts in the forum,  but I wanted to write just to get some final assurance from you.  Here was my situation.

I live in Los Angeles and I had sex with a high priced escort and at some point when she was on top the condom fell off.  I didn't realize it until she got off of me.  It took her a while to find the condom inside of her, and when she took it out it was pretty wrinkled up.  We had intercourse for about 10 mins before the discovery was made (I did not ejaculate).   She was pretty dry before (she put some lubrication on me) and my penis was dry when I withdrew.  There were a few posts on this, but it seemed like the duration off sex was a lot shorter in each one of those cases.  Do you think I could have contracted HIV?  I am married and have a baby on the way, so I am pretty worried.  I asked the escort and she said that she is clean and gets tested once a year for all things (I know it's easy for someone to say that, but I had to ask).  The other posts calmed me down a bit, but an definite answer from you would really help me out.  Thanks for your time.

You have posted on the wrong site.   Questions about HIV belong on the HIV prevention site.  I will do my best to answer your questions with this reply but, if you have additional questions or follow-up they must be on the HIV Prevention site.  Sorry

Your risk from this exposure is low.  As you have no doubt already seen, the probability that she was infected is quite low (in fact, most commercial sex workers use condoms to protect themselves, not their clients).  She said she was clean and told you how she know - I suspect she was telling the truth, most peole do. In addition, you were at least partially protected with the condom.  If is impossible to say whether the condom came of as you were coming out or during the act but either way, there was at least partial protection.  Finally, If she was infected (unlikely) and IF you were totally unprotected, your odds of having gotten infected would still be less than 1 in 1000.  Your overall odds are far lower.  Hope this helps.
