Severe left flank pain

by Goldastarr, Jul 24, 2008 05:42PM
Yesterday I developed severe left flank pain that became so severe I was gasping and moaning.  The pain has remained in one specific location; is exacerbated by movement; pulses.  Two oxycodone literally didn't have an effect on the pain - and I'm drug sensitive.  When I went to the ER, they did a CT scan which located a small kidney stone IN the left kidney, gave me some IV pain med for the immediate situation and sent me home 4 hours later.

In a less severe way the same pain came about 4 months ago, lasting for 5 days.  Then too I had two CT scans, one without dye, one with, where they saw a small stone in the kidney.  That time the urologist determined the pain was not from the kidney at all but rather from multiple issues in the spinal region.

Also, there is a 4.7cm cyst on that the lower lobe of the left kidney which the urologist said should not cause any problems.

I can't figure out if this severe pain is from kidney or back issues.  If I move around much today I'll probably end up back in as severe of pain as I was in yesterday.  Does anyone have any insights here?  I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks
Starr
