Should I give up?

by meeshy9, Jul 24, 2008 06:25PM
Its now CD23 and I've been taking OPKs since CD17, still no surge.  My follies measured only 13.5mm at CD17.  My nurse told me I probably won't O this month.  Not taking any meds or anything right now, just tracking how things go without help.  BD'ed on days 14,16,18,20,22.  Should I keep checking to see if I ovulate?  Should we keep BDing?  Or is all lost this cycle?  Any way to tell when I will get AF?  I'm lost.....

Are you sure you didn't ovulate earlier than CD17 and just missed you lh surge?????Odds are you already ovulated or you won't ovulate this month. BDing can't hurt but if you need a break I think you pretty safe.

I guess its possible that I ovulated before CD17 - I have been doing OPKs for only three months and I ovulated on CD17, then CD18, then CD19.  So I assumed I was a late ovulator - my LP each month was 14 days and my cycles vary from 30-35 days.  Though, I guess if this month is a 30 day cycle, I prob would have ovulated on CD16?  But I did have the u/s on CD17 and the biggest follie was 13.5mm - too small, right?  I don't know.  I guess I'm overthinking this.

13.5 sounds small to me. If you Oed on CD16 and had a u/s on CD17, then your RE/doc could have showed you the Oed follie to you. I would recommend you to do BBTs if you have a inconsistent cycle length and not sure about Oing. That helped me to find out when I Oed. An other option is Fertility monitor, but it is an expensive option though.

Yeah, I thought it was too small and that they would have seen something on u/s if I Oed.  I've tried BBTs but I have a 2.5 yr old daughter who doesn't sleep well so I have a hard time getting accurate readings!  I have used OPKs in the past and never had a problem seeing my surge.  That is why this month is so frustrating.

I had been hoping for more responses, but I guess this just isn't a common problem?  I think I'm going to do one more OPK today and then just forget about it.  I just wish I knew when AF would be due so I can at least start looking forward to something.  Femara is next!
