Tinnitus

by jaredxp, Jul 24, 2008 10:44PM
I have read alot about masking and avoiding total quiet.  I was wondering if this is just a coping mechanism or if this actually might help trick the brain into stop sending noise thru the ears eventually.  I am starting to think its better to accept the ear noise and try to get comfortable with it rather than try to hide from it but not sure if this will work against the goal of eliminating tinnitus.

Also, I finally took a hearing test and I appear to have tinnitus but no hearing loss.  Does this increase my chances of eliminating this tinnitus thing at some point?

Since you have no hearing loss like myself, the chances of remission only get better.  I have spent hundreds of hours on the internet researching this debilitating disease.  I would start looking into TRT.  I've tried everything and that's my next step.  The second link below is my absolute favorite.  It's a site that a medical doctor has that gives you more information and what to do about tinnitus than you'll get most places combined.  This Doctor has tinnitus but is now able to cope with it and doesn't even hear it most of the time.  He doesn't sell anything so you know it's for real.

The medical community can only diagnose tinnitus, they can't treat it (ENTs especially).  Watch your diet, salt intake, caffiene, BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA.  Let's get real people!
