Bump on Scalp

I am 32 years old, but ever since I was a teenager I can remember having this weird raised bump on my head that looks like several little bumps clumped together right in the middle of my scalp. My mom always said it was because I would sometimes sleep with my hair wet in a ponytail. My husband noticed it when we were dating and he just told me today that he noticed that it has grown a bit bigger than it used to be. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be?

This has been present for years already. These bumps on the scalp may be due to a fungal infection such as tinea capitis. It may also be due to psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. Discoid lupus may also present with scalp conditions. If hair loss is also noted, then these differentials that I have mentioned may need to be ruled out as they are associated with hair loss.
At this point, I would suggest a consult with a dermatologist. A skin biopsy may be able to help.
