HIV Testing in Ocupational Setting

Why is it recommended to test up to 6 months in an occupational exposure compare to exposure via Sex? Isn't it the same virus? I am confuse about this. If 3 months is conclusive, why different in this case?

OSHA and Insurance liability. That is the ONLY reason.
