Cake party to reveal sex of baby

I just wanted to pass this idea along for a way to reveal the sex of your baby or babies to family and friends.

We are going to have a cake party and have friends and family over to find out what we are having. Its a shock to think that the baker will know what we are having before we do! We are going to have the MD write down the sex on a piece of paper and not tell us. We will then that that paper to the bakery and have them make the cake blue or pink accordingly inside. When we go to cut into the cake in front of everyone, that's when we will find out. A friend of mine did this and I loved the idea, so Im stealing it!  

We were told we will be able to find out the sex on the Sept. 2 u/s.  We planned a cake and champange party with family and friends on Sept. 6. That would give the baker enough time to make the cake.  I don't know how Ill hold out but the sooner we hand over the paper to the baker, the better!

That is a way cool idea... If my hubby doesn't get to be at the anatomy scan, then I was going to have him write the gender down and we were going to open it together. But this is way neat. Maybe I can get a bakery to do one on the fly...

I really like this idea!!  If I had more friends and family closer, I would have a little party like this ...maybe even perhaps combine it with a baby shower.  

Hubby and I talked last night tho, and we'll probably let it be a surprise.  =D  On one hand, I love waiting to find out ('cause I think it might give me that extra push I need in labor), but on the other hand, I'm a very impatient person and I wanna know now!!  lol

My friend did have a bakery on the fly provide her with a cake.  She opted to have cherry filling for a girl and blueberry filling for a boy. The bakery had those cakes already made.  I want the inside dyed blue or pink, so that's why I am going to have to order the cake ahead of time, otherwise, you can just be really creative and do like my friend did or something else along those lines.

wow! that is such a cute idea : ) I may just have to steal it too.  I was trying to think of a fun way to tell my family when we find out in mid aug. and i wanted to make it special because my grampa will be up here visiting from FL( I live in MI) when we find out and i dont get to see him but once every few years.  Im so excited now, thatnks for sharing this idea : )

This is the most adorable idea, I may use it with future pregnancies. We arent finding out the sex this time around, but cute ideas like this make me reconsider. Truly an adorable idea!
