Praying!!!

Everyone: they'll most likely put her on bedrest and stop labor if that is what is happening. They'll probably try to keep baby in as long as possible.

Anxiously awaiting an update!

Okay ladies, I've got the laptop now.  We're in the hosp, and pretty doped up.  The bleeding was from the placenta tearing a little more (not too majorly though) but it bled a lot.  They have stopped my labor (good call Joy), I'm in the hospital for a while.  London's heartrate keeps dropping when I start contracting (happened 5 or 6 times now).  Preeclampsia has reared it's ugly head but I'm on meds to help control it and they seem to be working.  They have been having a hard time keeping me from contracting and have me on some really strong meds.  I'm a little worried about how they'll effect London but I guess it's better for her to be drugged than born so I'll stick with the drugs.  Trust me ladies, I am deffinately in happy land =D.  Not really sure when I'll get to update again (my husband is actually tying this for me as I talk) but I will update you when I can.  Take care and thank you for your prayers and support.  Buddy (husband) has read me your comments and all I can say is WOW, I really appreciate the love and support.

So do they have you taking magnesium? London is probably feeling like you are, just a little drugged up. It's probably not as intense to her, though!

SOOOOOOOOO GLAD to hear they're doing what they can to keep the little one in there. Do they have a goal in mind? Like wait until you're at least 32-36 weeks or something before stopping the meds?

She is on magnesium sulfate for the preeclampsia and contractions, demerol for the pain and to help relax her muscles and it also helps stop contractions, fenegrin for the nausia,  & something else that I can't remember right now but it is also for the preeclampsia.  She is hooked up to an iv for fluids and nutrition because she can't keep anything down which is partially due to the drugs and partially due to a side effect of the preeclampsia.  She is also on various monitors for her and the baby.  Right now they are both doing fine but we almost had to deliver twice last night because they couldn't get the labor to stop and the baby's heartbeat kept dropping but everything seems to be going better today.  Now that we have the preclampsia under control she should tolerate the meds better.  So far we are still looking at a possiability of getting to go home if Amanda keeps responding to the meds otherwise we'll stay in the hospital until after the baby is born.  We are trying to make it to a 32-34 week delivery.  Due to the IUGR (I'm assuming Amanda has told you about that) the baby will be the equivalant of 28 weeks if we deliver at 32 weeks and the odds would be good for survival, anything before that and we have significantly less favorable odds.  They should be able to make it to the 32 week mark as long as the preeclampsia is kept under control.  If we can't keep the preeclampsia under control then we will have to deliver London inorder to save Amanda.

By the way, this is Amanda's mom, Lisa.  Manda was getting another dose of meds when she was dictating the message for Buddy to type and is already knonked out.  I figured I'd answer your questions since she probably won't think to do so for at least a few hours.

THANK YOU BUDDY AND LISA for the update i pray all goes well with landon and amanda. hang in there

I know how she feels. I just got home on Thursday for pre-term labor and I was on a lot of medications too. The Magnesium sulfate is the worst. It can make you feel like you are on fire and it always givs me really bad headaches. I feel for her. Maybe she will get to go home soon. I am praying for both of them. Keep us updated!

by kennedydp5, Jul 26, 2008 01:29PM
all of you are in our prayers!!!  i hope that the meds will continue do help and she can make it as far as possible to the 32 week mark.  i know this is a scary situation but have faith it will be ok and God is w/ you!

Praying London holds out as long as possible and that the meds will keep the preeclampsia under control!!!

Thank you all for your prayers.  We are going home tomorrow morning.  London is doing just fine and has decided that she likes it in my tummy so she's staying put (hopefully) for a few more weeks.  They have me off everything and are giving me supositories (ewwww ewww and more ewww) of something to settle my stomach
