MRI results (what does it mean) and my symptoms

by hipchick40, Jul 25, 2008 11:29AM
Here’s what’s going on:

In June of 2006 I started getting mild tingling in my hands and feet. I had never felt that before. A few months later I started getting dizziness. Not spinning but feeling like I was on a boat. I though it may be allergies because I had some sinus pressure too. This went on for a couple months. I decided to see an ENT. He examined me and did not think it was an inner ear problem. Since I was getting the tingling along w/the dizziness he ordered an MRI with & without contrast. By now the symptoms were fading away. I went to his office to get the results. He said it was good news. The only thing they found was 2 little white spots, which he said are very common, but usually in much older people (I was 38 at the time). He did mention that it may be early MS. He said if the symptoms persisted to go see a Neurologist. The symptoms did not persist, so I did not go to the neurologist.

Here's the MRI Report findings:
There are 2 punctate, approx. 2mm foci of increase flair and t2 signal in the subcortial deep white matter of the right frontal lobe. These demonstrate no corresponding t1 signal abnormalities and are comparable with non-specific gliosis or demyelination. There are no other white matter abnormalities identified. (the rest of the report was normal)

(About 6 months later I developed Acid Reflux. That has been on and off.)

Around July 4th (almost 2 years later) I started getting sinus headaches and pressure, then came the dizziness again. I’ve had it every day. But I’ve also had a lot of pressure in my head also which I’m assuming it’s allergies. But I’m also getting some tingling sensations again and patches near my knees are feeling slightly numb (not totally) Especially when I’m laying in bed sleeping. In June I was on a plane for 2 hours. When I came home, on my left leg the shin area was completely numb all evening. I’ve never felt that before.

So here I am today, concerned about the dizziness and the numb-ish patches on my legs. I’m still trying to write off the dizziness to head pressure in the front & back of my head. I made an apptmt with a neurologist for Aug 15th.
I'd like to know what a Dr. thinks of these MRI results.

Thanks.
