by gussyndc, Jul 25, 2008 01:04PM
Hi.
My mother in Lima-Peru was diagnost with breast cancer (G2) I'm her son living in DC. I would like to know how bad it is? if complicated with some arm and back pain, also she had some pulmonary problems, mainly one works well and thrombosis. Wondering what are the chances if surgery could happen or any other treatments recomended in this complicated case? She is 75 y/o. They is Cancer in the family. I have a Lymphoma on my R eye 2 years ago. I could give more info if some one please will contact me.
Cheers
Angelo

Hi there.

The grading of the breast cancer tumor is related to the proliferative rate, or how fast the cancer cells are dividing. Grade 1 is low proliferation, Grade 3 means high proliferation, while Grade 2 is somewhere in between.

If your mother already have lung metastases, then chemotherapy or hormonal therapy is the best option.  If the lung problem is separate from the cancer, then resection of the primary tumor through mastectomy or lumpectomy could still be curative.

Regards.
