Hi everyone I don't have a question I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Nichole I am 30 years old I was diagnosed woth HCV back in 1996 in my senior year of high school. Were not sure exactly how I got this but My mom found out like 6 years latedr after me that she had HCV also. I am not really in the risk factor or contracting it other then having a parent with it. So we think since my mom had a history of IV drug use that I got it from her either at birth making me in that 6 percent or by useing my mom's hygene pproducts. About 5-6 years ago my mom went through treatment. She was able to join one of the experimental studies and still to this day she is clear from HCV. Way to go mom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in major denial about having HCV. I met my husband and when we were pregnant with are first child I told him that I was HCV positive I was scared he would leave me but he thankful didn't and in fact didn't care he just loved me and gave to hoots I was HCV positive. I have four children total and just this past year decided to start taking care of me. If I don't take care of me then who is and I want to watch my children and grandchildren grwo up some day. This past year I have been researching HCV like crazy. So I know that most of the time people that are HCV positive don't usually die from HCV . But I wasnt going to take any chances. I contacted my doctor and got a physical. My LFT's were a little elevated and I told her my mom had HCV so she tested me for it and of coarse I had it. Then she refered me to a Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist. I guess this doctor does liver transplants also so I got a 2 in one package. I went and seen him he confirmed the HCV. Then we did a few other blood tests and he started me on Treatment. I am Genotype 3 which I know is a good thing so are gowal is 24 weeks on treatment I am on week 10. Yipeeeeeeeeee I think In november I will be having a big party once I am done with this whole thing. I do work in the health field as a clinical asst and I am finishing up my classes to apply to nursing school. We tested my three oldest children and they were negative which we new was a good possibility now I just have to still test my lil guy and hubby. But the hubby and I are playing things safe especially until we know for sure. Well Thats my story and I am looking forward to chatting with all of you more often. Take care and it was a pleasure to meet all of you.

Welcome Nichole!  I hope tx gives you the same results as your Mom.
I assume she's also a Geno3?
There is a wealth of info here in this forum.
Don't let it consume you, read and let it help you through your tx.
Good Luck!...
