Karatitis after cosmetic eye surgery

by DeeDonahue, Jul 26, 2008 11:40AM
Two months ago I had facial cosmetics surgery and this included upper and lower blaporplasty...I am 63 years old.  My left eye received on scratch on the cornea at surgery then this eye does not close completely.  As a result my left eye is scratchy, uncomfortable, and dry.  The upper and lower eyelid is red and swollen, it also itches and is sore to the touch in spots.  The lower lid is also red and swollen.  I have been diagnosed with Keratitis.  For treatment I user moisture eye drops several times daily and Pantanol eye drops twice daily.

My eye is still red and swollen after treatment and it seems that eye makeup makes it worse.  Is there an eye makeup that is safe to use until the Keratitis is healed. This surgery was intended to make me look better but my eyes look worse.  It's embrassing.

Thank you for your time and expertise in responding.

See an EyeMD Ophthalmologist to start aggressive treatment of your dry eyes.  I deal with this same scenario from time to time.  Try stopping the Patenol, it may aggrevate dry eyes.  Use a thick lubricant like Refresh Celluvisc every hour or so and an ointment like Refresh PM at bedtime.  Stay away from computer use and limit reading, no ceiling fans, no smoking.  Take flaxseed oil 1000mg a day.  The price of beauty, huh.  Sorry for your problems, you will get better with proper help.
