resistant chlamydial infection?

this has reference to my previous postings on my std infection. My friend doctor who prescribed me zithromax 1g as a single dose and a week of doxycline 100mg bid did not eradicate the disease as i had developed epididymitis and also my wife who could be also infected had bleeding in between menstrual period. my question is , what would be the alternative treatment and what other stds that would possibly infected us. please help, anyone? thanks a lot.

The urologist examined me and said that i still have an infection and that the std my have relapsed and developed a resistance to zith and doxy. He prescribed me another set of meds which include levofloxacin 500mgs once daily for 10 days and one dose of cefixime 400mgs. I had another partner which i already advised to go to the dr for a check up. I hope we'll be cured with the new meds soon. I learned a lesson in life and learned it well. Thanks a lot for all the help. God bless.

Oh ok.  Its helpful to know all the details up front.

Since you and your wife were treated, and you waited to have sex, this probably wouldn't be a re-infection.

Were you actually tested, or did the doctor just give you meds?  How did you get chlamydia?  If you have another partner, that person also needs to be treated.

thanks for the reply again. my wife took the same medication as i did and i dont think that there was a possibility that i got reinfected because we refrain from having sex for the period of the medication and used condoms after the treatment. thanks again.

And you both need testing as well.

If your wife hasn't been treated, you don't have a resistance here, you have been re-infected.

You and your wife both need to be treated.
