OK... me too

I thought that I was the only one with this wierd set of symptoms.  I have hacked after eating for years now.  I have tried to figure out what food I was sensitive to but it seemed like everything bothered me.  Finally I realized that I even hacked after something as simple as unsweetened tea.  I get this thick phlem at the back of my throat that makes it impossible to even consider lunch meetings or dinner with polite company.  I find that I have to apologize to everyone I am around and assure them that I am not sick.  I do have a hernia and some acid reflux but I don't believe that this is the problem.  My nasal passages will sometimes swell with some foods (like wine) but mostly not and I don't think that the phlem is coming from the nose.  Does ANYONE have a diagnosis for this problem?

I am a nurse and this happens to me.  I am even unsure of what exactly it is. I do have GERD sometimes, but it is very different from the asthma like symptoms I experience after meals. GERD causes a burning type feeling, this is too much mucus in your lungs type of problem. I have decided to start a log of when it happens and when it doesn't and exactly what I was eating at the time.
