recurring blisters on scrotum

by southerntester, Aug 04, 2008 04:39PM
I have a spot on one side of my scrotum that seems to get "blisters" from time to time. It happens usually when I sleep. I use a body pillow between my legs and I am a very hot sleeper occasionally waking sweaty. The blisters are gone by the end of the same day. They are kind of clear and no pus or anything. The itch some. After they go the area stays red for a day or two. I don't get them anywhere else including any other areas on my scrotum. The first thing I thought of was herpes but from my reading it really doesn't resemble that at all. Why to I keep getting them in the same spot every time and what the heck are they? Yes, I went to the doctor but by the time I get to see him they are gone. Any help would be great!

Hi

This does not sound like herpes. Herpes does not come and go as rapidly as you have noted your blisters to. This sounds like a sweat rash or contact dermatitis. In contact dermatitis, the rash may present with blisters and they may be associated with redness in the area. I suggest that you wear loose cotton material for pajamas or underpants. Try to avoid placing a pillow between your legs if this appears to trigger this.

Wash the area with a mild cleanser like Cetaphil. This should revert spontaneously given time.
