Odds and ends

First let me provide the site for the smoking amalgam theory that recently had quite a few people following the debate between two members. http://quackfiles.blogspot.com/2005/04/smoking-teeth-truth-gets-smoked-out.html

I would like to say that my thyroid is leveling out quite well, I am sleeping well, BP is about where I would expect it to be. I did want to say that I was very wrong about amour thyroid. My heart palpitations seem to be related to GERD. I have a hiatal hernia and have just recently been putting everything together. Unfortunately they are back because I recently had a failed root canal pulled and took some ibuprofen on an empty stomach. My stomach has not yet recovered. I had stopped using the Prilosec and my stomach esophagus is in a state of spasm. Seems my vegus nerve is being affected. I hope to get this under control soon although my anxiety levels are reaching higher levels and I am afraid to add more meds to my daily routine.
I would like to ask any of you who take perscription anxiety medicine what is the best to take. I have used Klonopin , very minimal amounts for years and just feel like it may be contributing to my yo yo anxiety at this time. Any body use Ativan? Restoril for daily anxiety and not sleep?

I think saliva is better - but the potty test has worked for me and balanced me out.

I have to admit after two years of heart "things", I am still a little confused about the the term "heart palpitations".

I have skipped beats from time to time. I HAD tachacardia, which has been controlled with a beta blocker. Every once in a while my heart will speed up for a second or two and then the beta blocker settles it down.

I also get funny, out of rhythm beats from time to time that last for five or ten seconds.

Before it was determined that I had mild acid reflux, I was complaining constantly about a heavy feeling in my heart, which got worse when I laid down, and chest discomfort that boardered on pain, making me feel like I was having serious heart trouble. Sometimes when I laid down my heart would go whacky. I don't know any other way to describe it.

Some of it was my heart, and some of it was my esophagus hurting, although it all felt like chest pain. The heavy, aching, pressure feelings were acid reflux. The odd heart rhythm was my heart. I don't know if they are connected, or if laying down just does something to the heart.

Every event of tachacardia I had was brought on by laying down, which I find confusing. I would feel really bad, and 30 seconds after I laid down my heart would be racing such that I would bolt upright and sit on the edge of the bed till it subsided, thinking I was "having the big one". That went on for quite a while when I was hyper AND on the beta blocker.

This is distinctly different from when I overdo it, get out of breath, and my heart rate elevates. When that happens, I can stop and rest and my heart rate slows as it normally would.

Don't know if any of this helps or not. Let me know what you think, pewe.

Did anybody try apple cider vinegar with 1 teaspoon of baking coda with a glass of water?
It helped me but I also took Nexium for 1 1/2 Mo.  I do not have the problems anymore.

Regarding the Ph test, I heard the saliva test is more effective than the urine test. Needs to be done within 1-2 hours of any food, preferably in the morning.

I had been dabbling for about a year on the hypo/acid reflex thing. I think AR will remember at the beginning I complained so much of burning tongue - teeth hurting sore blisters on my tongue nausea and burning of the esophagus like a volcano 24 hours a day.

Actually the acid reflex = b/c of it severity - has damaged - dissolved some of my enamel on my back teeth. - (thinned them down alot)

In many articles I read hypos are sensitive to Acid Reflex. Widely known our bodies slow in alot of normal functions. BUT what suprised me the most was we as hypos really have LESS acid in our systems and the acid (because of it being very little we can not digest foor properly in your stomaches. HENSE this is really where or acid woes come from. Taking anti reflex acid meds only compiles the LESS acid and strengthens it to keep us in a position that is not healthy

Our low acid is very strong and we as hypos now carry a very high PH balance in this little volume of acid. So that is where our reflex troubles come from. Also b/c of the strength of the acid - we are more prone to cancer in the future.

ACV and sea salt maintains a normal and healthy PH balance in our stomach and neutralizes the exsisting acid to start to function normally. Getting our hypo condition in check and balancing out our PH is key to get MORE neutral acid to digest food properly and to neutralize the acid so we do not suffer the burning.

and it is so cheap to check this out. - just pee on a ph stick in the am and pm. If you see your levels exceed 7.3 then you know you are highly acid. hense ACV/sea salt therapy is used and your acid resolves in less than 15 minutes.

It has been the gem for me. and my esophagus is healed too without that purple pill that made me ill. I also "ate" every anti acid known to man without these kind of results. Which threw off my thyroid meds constantly.

God what a relief this has been for me. and it cost me pennies compared to that co pay on the other Rx drugs.

AR, my friend. Your palps were caused by gerd too? Do you now have them under control. I discovered that my father has a hiatal hernia with palpitations only at night after laying flat on his bed. He take Prilosec as well  and eats whatever he wants. I have anxiety about pills and swallowing them so I'm trying to get use to that.
I know sounds pitiful. Yes Xanax (alpazolam) is as addictive as Klonopin. Both of these are also big time antispasmotic muscle drugs. I still have a lingering fear that Klonopin works well to reduce spasms but when I don't take it all the time maybe, just maybe being off the antispasm drugs cause more spasms of my esophagus???

I was up to .5 grain or armour when I start having palpitations. I thought it was the armor, it wasn't. I have since lost about 20 pounds and I only weighed 146, now 126. I'ts okay, I'm only 5'4" (hence pewe) I should feel better without all that extra weight, I carried most of it in my stomach. I now only need about a half a tablet of synthroid to get me to a 5 tsh, my doc wants me to increase to a full tablet but I'm afraid of more anxiety. I'm sleeping lovely about right now. I wished I wouldn't have left armor, Oh well, I did have quite a bit more in the way of panic attacks back then and now my anxiety has become general anxiety w/o panic attacks. perhaps I was making enough t3 anyway.

HAhahahahaha!!!!!!
LOL!!

Hi, pewe! :o)

I had the same issue with gerd, and I found out I have a hiatal hernia as well. I have been taking Ranitidine for 18 months to lower my stomach acid because of the pre-ulcer thing that was going on, and that helped the gerd.

I've been on Alprazolam around the clock for two years plus for anxiety, and it helps. It's addictive though and I really don't want to stop taking it, ever. That's not so good because I DO want to stop taking it...next year.

So, I highly recommend it, but it comes with baggage.

I'd like to hear more from Stella about the vinegar and sea salt.

One of these days my GP may decide to take me off the Ranitidine. Or not.

I have been on Buspar for about 6 months and it has helped.  The Dr. tells me it is mild and I have had no side effects.

Hope you feel better.

I don't use anything anymore but I found Xanax helpful.

If you are concerned about not putting more meds into you I strong suggest researching natural cures for acid reflex. You can cure the hernia.

I suffered the GERD for 2 yrs straight - been on all the Rx's known to man. Nothing solved the problem.

I found my cure in a vinager bottle with sea salt.

I just don't get it with modern medicine. Everything is around a pill all the time yet everyone that takes them continues being ill with either the same thing - or something else too.
