Tics/shaking when excited

by Momv1, Aug 11, 2008 09:31PM
My 6 year old daughter shakes when excited. She seems to have uncontrollable movements of her arms and occasionally face and legs (kind of a jerky motion). It usually last a few seconds. I don't think she realizes that she is doing it. It only happens when she is thinking of something exciting, and happens several times a day. This has been going on since she was a small baby. We thought it was cute but I think it may be getting more pronounced. I am beginning to worry this is more than excitement. Any ideas / suggestions?

Hi,

How are you?
Tics are rapid uncontrolled movements. Throat clearing and eye blinking are most common tics. Tics are commonly seen when a person is excited, stressed or nervous.
Tourette’s syndrome is a type of tic disorder. It usually starts in children between the age group of 3 -10 years.
Most tics go away by themselves after a few months. There are medications available for persistent tics. Please consult your child’s pediatrician about them.
Take care!
