1. Your wife is not at risk.
2. No, the rash would not be gonorrhea. There are many things that cause rashes of the genitals but gonorrhea is not one of them. Have your doctor take a look. It may be related to the antibiotics you've been taking.
3. Neither. it may be related to the physiology of the testicles and their related structures. EWH
Following receipt of oral sex persons may be at risk for getting infected by either gonorrhea or with bacteria from the mouth to cause non-chlamydial NGU. The antibiotics you have been on (levofloxacin, biaxin, and now doxycycline) are active against most of these bacteria although there are a few strains of gonorrhea that could be resistant. I doubt that gonorrhea is the source of your problem however, in light of your negative tests and absence of penile symptoms. You have received treatment with good antibiotics. If you had symptomatic improvement on one of them, your treatment may have just been too short and a prolonged course might be helpful. In this situation the tests might have been affected but to be honest, this is unlikely. If the doxycycline does not help, some persons would try trimethroprim/sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim) but to be honest, you are now at the point where management enters into the realm of trial and error. I would continue to work on this with your doctor. He/she may choose to involve an urologist at some point in the not too distant future for their evaluation as well. To briefly address your specific questions:
1. Unlikey unless there was a major improvement in your symptoms while on antibiotics and before you were tested
2. Unlikely
3. Persons do not get ureaplasma from oral sex and if you had, the antibiotics you received would have helped.
Good luck. EWH
No it doesn't change things much. Perhaps suggests that you shold have a longer course of azithromycin although if the azithromycin was helping the biaxin should have had the same effect - they are closely related. I think you are going to have to work through this with your doctor. EWH
last question doc
I was actually treated with rocephin and 1 gram on Azithromycin before the doxy and was starting to feel better. I had sex with my wife 5 days after that.
One week later without notice my testicles started to hurt again.
Does this change your prior diagnosis?
thanks your answers really are helping me feel better
My biggest concern is that I transferred something to my wife. is there anything possible that could have been transfered to her based on what i have told you?
She is having stomach problems and i am worried that i have given her something that has caused pelivic inflamatory disease
I do have a rash under the head of my penis, you mentioned something about penile symptoms. It has not changed in about 2months so i have ruled out herpes and syphillus
1 do you think that i have transmitted something to her? LIke an NGU, Gonn, or something else?
2. could this rash be an indication of gonnorreah?
3. if the testicular pain goes away and then comes back after i have sex with my wife does this mean that i have given her something or that i was not treated long enough?
thanks doc
