Hi,
First time I join a forum, I have had 2 ultra sounds 6 months a part and they both showed nodules on the right and left, the second scan showed similar sizes for the nodules. the biggest was on the left and was 11.5 mm. I was then sent to have a fine needle biopsy done with an ultra sound.
At tha point follicular cells were found. My endocrinologist sent me to a surgeon to have the nodule and maybe the all thyroid removed. The surgeon did not seem to understand why I was sent to her, she then said to reasure me she could ask for a "core biopsy". Which I went to have done, and to my surprise the doctor who had already done the other fine needle biopsy, refused to do it saying that he would speak to the surgeon first and also said there was a risk of haemorragy, therefore needing a coagulation test. So I went home disconcerted!
Since, it was nearly 2 weeks ago, I have only spoken to my endocrino on the telephone who said he has not had any come back from either doctors. So that is where I am and I am concerned because I do not understand the implications of having the nodule/thyroid removed.
Can you please tell me if you think that I should have another opinion or go ahead with removing nodule/thyroid?
