Pain LONG after root canal

I had a root canal on a bottom tooth (molar I guess) about 2 1/2 years ago, October 2004, that is giving me trouble. After I'd first gotten it done, I ended up dealing with it for almost an entire year. My dentist would give me antibiotics, put a temporary filling in, but it wouldn't take long before the tooth would start hurting again and my jaw would swell up. We even got to the point where he put the crown on, but again, it started hurting shortly thereafter. In July 2005, my dentist FINALLY sent me to an endodontist, who did another root canal on the tooth, gave me different antibiotics (apparently I'm immune to Amoxicillan now), and the tooth stopped hurting. I never went to get the crown put back on and eventually the temp. filling wore away. I don't chew on that side of my mouth, I always rinse after eating, and I brush more than regularly, yet here I am with pain in the tooth again. I'm beginning to think it might just be easiest to get the tooth removed. I'm sick to death of dealing with it! Any ideas what might be going on?

Do you have biting pain or discomfort when pressing on side of tooth? That is what I've been going thru for 1 1/2 years. I also wonder if it needs to be pulled. I can't find the answer either and my endo is very stubborn and conceited.
