Yes, you know I didn't even think about Graves issue. He must had something else to go on to just change the med like that without even waiting for some type of verification.
Just going on the idea of being hyper induced by medication, was my thinking....
All those symptoms point to hyper, the loose bowels, the elevated temp, the anxiety and being flustered. I know when I had that happen, those were some of the same things.
Pam,
How long have you been diagnosed? is this something new or been going on for some time? did the dr tell you anything as to why he would want to change meds?
Also get a copy of your labs. Being normal means nothing. Normal for who is the question.
A view of the bigger picture will help us give our lowly opinion to you....
Hi Peggy!
:o)
We're taking two different paths to getting "the rest of the story". LOL!!
I'm guessing a lot.
How about you?
Pamelot, your side note and your theory is fairly acurate. Those stressors can agravate your symptoms.
It is possible to be hyper and have your Free T4 and Free T3 fall "within lab limits", or normal. But the levels are not actually normal or you would feel fine.
The lab limits are too broad and allow this to happen.
The reason your doctor was less forthcoming is because he is not sure if you have Grave's disease, or transient thyroiditis.
The "something else" you will be tested for is antibodies that will confirm or rule out Grave's Disease, and hopefully also tests to confirm or rule out Hashimoto's.
My guess is you are taking Methimazole until the doctor figures out what is going on. Methimazole slows your thyroid down and will lower your Free T4 and Free T3.
You said you have been living with a high TSH.
What do you mean by that?
sounds to me like you are hyper and need to back off of your thyroid med a bit. What were you taking?
