Red nose possibly alchohol

I have had a red nose that over the last 18 months had become chronically more red. I have been a fairly heavy beer drinker for more than 25 years. Recently the nose started to appear drastically worse. I reduced my comsupmtion of beer two no more than three beers a day and drink in a glass with ice cubes to reduce the alchohol level.
I also saw my doctor who had me try a treatment used for severe acne that would peel away the top layers of skin allowing new skin to grow and possibly help. The bright red appearance has indeed started to considerably lighten but the new skin has a purplish color to it. Will this ever return to normal? I know the capillaries have broken and that laser may help but that sounds very expensive.
There also seems to be a correlation to my blood pressure and the redness level? Could it possibly be even associated with skin damage caused by the sun over the past 50 years or so? Sorry to sound so 'nutty' but this is really bothering me mentally.
Awaiting any ideas, help or suggestions you can reply with.
Thanks.

Hi. Rosacea responds well to laser therapy, but there are lots of other things you can try before resorting to this expensive option.
Your doctor can prescribe you oral Oxytetracycline and topical Metronidozole (Metro gel) both of which are very effective.
Use a cleanser and moisturizer indicated for Rosacea. My favorites are: Rosaliac by La Roche-Posay, Redness Relief by Eucerin and Redness Solutions by Clinique.
If laser therapy is necessary, some clinics offer interest free finance, or discounted rates for multiple treatments.
Eloise.

A dr once told me if the blood vessels were involved with the redness it is rosacea. Alcohol will cause broken veins in your face according to what I have heard over the years. Do you think it may be an allergy? My daughter has allergies and rubs her nose because it itches. If your nose runs or you sneeze a lot around certain things it is a chance it could be allergies. If you think it may be you can try Zertec. If you are on other meds be sure to check with the pharmacist. If you are on other meds check for possible reactions even if you have been on them a while, especially the last 18 months. I was on a med for high blood pressure for quite a while. I had a small cough that I didn't even pay any attention to and later found it was a reaction to that med. When they changed it, it went away. If nothing helps or doesn't apply then it is best to see a dermatologist.
