tsh levels

I have been hypothyroid for 5 years but recently went off of my Levoxyll for 7 months. We moved and there was a hassle with making a long drive for labs and to see my doctor.I was feeling very poorly so finally went to a physician who is very short on words.I am new here so I did not know who to go to.My labs say :TSH 3rd Gen SerPl QN and the results were 26.233 with a norm of 0.400/4.200  The doctors office mailed me the results.Well, actually they didnt list them.It said high.I had to go in and request them.I had been on 75 mg of Levoxyll and this doctor prescribed 88mg before the labs even came back.I really miss my other physician because she would have at the very least had the nurse call and discuss it with me.I am to return in 6 weeks for a lab redraw. All of my other labs were fine.Cholesterol and blood sugar are great which is a shocker given that they should be elevated as well with an out of whack thyroid.I guess my question is how serious is it with that high of a tsh.It sure explains the brain fog, weight gain, dry hair,EXTREME tiredness and oh the depression.I am glad I found this board. Thanks for listening!

200 is off the charts, although I saw one woman post that her son had a TSH above 400.

Mine's been above 120.0, not that it's anything to brag about. Anything over about 150 puts you in the life threatening catagory. Not that it WILL happen, but that it COULD happen.

But 26.0 is high enough to make you plenty sick.

You'll be feeling better soon.

Thank you for responding and the encouragement.I just thought that 26.233 was off the charts. Now I see that happens more often than I thought.

26.233 is high, but 88mcg should pull you into line in six weeks. It may even be a tad bit much. It's hard to say.

One time my TSH was 46.?? and a week after starting meds it was 6.??, so it can change fast. That's a little extreme, but I'm just sayin'.

Getting checked in six weeks is a good idea. It's too bad the nurse didn't call you or even mail you a complete report.
