My doctor called me on Friday to tell me my mammogram results.  She called it a stage 4, but I learned here it's a BIARD 4.  My biopsy is scheduled for the 22nd and they tell me that I'll have results the next day......but now I, too, can only wait and wonder.

I'm a newly single mom.  Not having someone close to share this with is tough.  It took all that I had in me not to call my ex, but I cannot have him involved in my life in that way.  There are reasons why I got out & as hard as this waiting game is right now I'll just need to rely on girlfriend power!

Thinking good thoughts for us all.

I have a similar spiculated mass.Did a biopsy last week and I am awaiting for the results.Needless to say that I am very anxious and very scared like you.Other masses that would look spiculated would be fat necrosis, trauma to the breast and two others that I can't recall right now. So,lets hang on the hope that we are going to be ok one way or another.Best wishes.

It is completely understandable how freaked out you are right now. All of us here on this forum have gone through what you are feeling. Please just know that we are here for you - these women here have been a Godsend to me since my diagnosis. We all have been at the point where you are and I want to tell you that you will be ok. If there is a malignancy you will get through this. It is a long journey, one that no one should have to take. But you will be alright. I know it doesnt seem like it right now. Trust me - I know. I am praying for you that it is benign. Please let us know what is happening.

i just got your comment and it does not look real promising  10% chance of being beign is real low.  what other things presents itself as a spiculated mass.   i can't stand this anxiety

Hi there.

The BIRADS category is a standardized reporting of mammogram results.  Increasing score increases the likelihood of malignancy.  The spiculated mass may indeed be a sign or malignancy. Even at a BIRADS 5 reading, this may not automatically mean cancer and there can still be a 10% chance of this being benign (more information about birads: http://biradsclass.blogspot.com).

I hope that the biopsy can be done as soon as possible to ascertain the nature of this finding. Regards and God bless.
