Yes, I agree that thyroid disease is a major disease. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease in late 2005, had RAI ablation to kill some of the thyroid off, and have recently been trying to find my optimum dosage of Armour Thyroid.
It is amazing how many things int he body the thyroid helps to control including muscle aches and pains, joint pain, emotions, metabolism, weight gain/loss, breathing and the list just keeps on going.
With that said, proper treatment of the thyroid and proper medication can control the disease and eliminate the symptoms. The trick is finding the right doctor that treats by not only the blood tests but the patient's symptoms as well. They go hand in hand. It is not uncommon for a thyroid patient to change doctors at some point in their treatment.
Hope that helps and good luck to you!!!
Well, to be exact, a thyroid is a gland, not a disease. If you have a thyroid disease, you have a major disease and be quite sick.
Sorry to be so exact, I can't help it! I had thyroid cancer, and a total thyroidectomy. I miss my thyroid! : (
