Not sure what this is

I got a very bad bruised just above my right knee in may I went to the doctors a few weeks later because from about where the bruise was just above the knee down had swollen up they tested me and did a2 ultrasounds and ruled out any blood clots. But Its been 4 months and about once a day from about half way up my thigh down my leg gets very swollen and it feels like the skin is going to rip open its not sore just not fun, I have looked into it but I don't have any other symptoms no rash nothing
.It stays this way most of the day once its starts.I'm not overweight ( 115 pds) and 40 yrs old and no other health problems well I do have thrush that Ive been dealing with for over a year.I have eat yogurt everyday to help with the thrush as I cant stand the liquid medicine I was given and at this time I have no health insurance, at this time. The doctors told me the bruise I had was very deep and I had broken a lot of veins but it seems like after 4 months they would be healed.
Thanks
Dawn

Thanks for the information we are getting a new health insurance and I will go back to another doctor as soon as I can. It is just weird and I figured that 4 months seemed like a long time for a bruise to heal.
Thanks again!

I am sure this is unlikely, but I have heard that prolonged pain after an injury that shouldve easily healed could indicate a tumor or cancer in that area.  Maybe just have your dr. do a simple blood work up on you. :-) If it's not healing properly, there has to be a reason.

Hello,

The blood under the skin which causes the discoloration of bruising should be totally reabsorbed by the body in three weeks or less.

In your case,as the symptoms are persisting for more than 4 months,so it may be due to formation of hematoma because of blood trapped in tissues. This blood may need to be drained. Less commonly, it may develop calcium deposits at the injury site in a process called heterotopic ossification. This is more serious.

I feel that you should consult a surgeon and take a second opinion from him. Also get the possibility of infection and fracture/ligament tear ruled out by means of x-ray knee.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
