The first paragraph sounds like you may be having a migraine. Migraines can induce visual symptoms which may be followed by headaches. With regards to the migraines and eye musculature imbalance, I would recommend that you see an eyeMD to determine the diagnosis and treatment. I would recommend that you control your blood pressure and if needed, wear reading glasses to reduce the strain.
