Armpit Acne

by Nek08, Sep 22, 2008 09:08PM
I shaved my armpits yesterday. I do it as a religious requirement. Today I saw  acnes around both. It happened the last time I did it. I also see acnes acnes (pink or red) on my shoulders, back and the sides of my belly. What can I do to get rid of them.

I bought an acne lotion and soap bar because I had some whitish acnes on my forehead and eyebrows. I use both to get rid of them, which I have succeeded a great deal, but the other day, I saw a red spot under my left eye. I am worried. What do you think I should do?

Acne Vulgaris commonly occurs on the face, chest and back. If over the counter remedies prove to be of limited benefit, see your doctor. He can prescribe an effective gel such as Differin 0.1% (adapalene) or Retin-A. A course of oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline may also be indicated.
The spots under your arm are caused by trauma to the hair follicles whilst shaving. To prevent this always use a fresh razor and shave in a lukewarm shower or bath. Use a good quality shaving gel such as King Of Shaves. Pat the area dry with a clean towel, do not rub, and apply Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream or Vaseline to prevent a rash.

Thanks a lot, Loiloi. Can I get Differin or Retin-A over the counter?

Hi. Differin and Retin-A are topical retinoids which can only be prescribed by a doctor or dermatologist.
The best over-the-counter acne gel I know of is Freederm which contains nicotinamide.

Thanks for the reply. I also have this white stuff (like oral thrash) around inside my mouth (a white layer). A whitish stuff also surfaces inside. It has been there for a while now. What do you think is the problem?
