hi
how come they have not done a ep study with possible ablation if these rate's are upsetting they can also give anti arrhythmiaArrhythmias's if u are symptomatic with these alltough they can have side effects for some.
i would definitely consult with your cardiologist. I do know a fever can kick up your heart rate, and definitely a electrolyte imbalance can cause cardio problems. potassium is a major cardio electrolyte, that if too high of too low can cause deadly rhythyms. what does your doc say about the tachycardia you have!! i feel for you, i know it is frustrating when your body is going out of whack and you don't know why?
I know fevers and an electrolyte imbalance can cause the heart rate to go up but I don't think it would cause it to go as high as 150 beats per min. The best thing would be to make an appt. with your cardiologist and discuss all that's been happening. I know how frustrated you feel. I dealt with SVT for 36 years before I decided to have an ablation on Aug. 4th. My heart rate would go up to about 180 beats per min. and last for about an hour and a half at times. I tolerated the high rate with no problems. From what I understand, if your heart is structurally o.k, , the high rate isn't dangerous, just a scary nuisance. Good luck and keep us posted.

2. Does electrolyte imbalance bring on SVT? I truly beleive this can happen Potassium is very important to keep at the right levels.
3. How worried should I be that it goes 150bpm for hours and then comes down? (This doesn't happen everyday but several times a week) ? I wouldn't worry about that, if your doctor has checked you out and you have a structualy normal heart, that isn't as high as i have heard of some people on here and i know when i have svt my heart rate jumps up to 250-300 bpm and they say i'm fine. But I know it's truly very scary.
