Burning head pain!

by bex7, Sep 23, 2008 11:53AM
I had quite a painful headache on top of the left side of my head about two weeks ago, after about 24 hrs of this headache it subsided but i was left with a burning pain and ringing in my ears!! The burning pain and ringing is still present and just as painful!! I have been to the doctors and he said it was 'just a migrain' which could have been caused from a glass of red wine or cheese that i may have consumed (i don't drink red wine or like cheese!). It is really starting to worry me because surley it is not normal to have this burning pain for so long..... Can anyone help??

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
It is quite possible that what you experienced was a migraine attack although migraine is a throbbing one sided headache. However the other symptoms of ringing in the ears and blurry vision are a part of migraine.
I would suggest you to avoid caffeine, and foods that contain MSG like Chinese foods and some snacks. You can also take OTC pain killers and lie in a quiet dark room and apply cold compresses if you get the attack again. It will be worthwhile to get yourself evaluated.
Take care!
