It is quite possible that what you experienced was a migraine attack although migraine is a throbbing one sided headache. However the other symptoms of ringing in the ears and blurry vision are a part of migraine.
I would suggest you to avoid caffeine, and foods that contain MSG like Chinese foods and some snacks. You can also take OTC pain killers and lie in a quiet dark room and apply cold compresses if you get the attack again. It will be worthwhile to get yourself evaluated.
