Question about Gonal-F and menopur

by Maria2707, Sep 23, 2008 06:14PM
This is my 2nd IVF cycle. My doctor called the pharmacy for both Gonal-F and menopur. I don't understand why both. During my first IVF cycle I just used Gonal-F. Why is that this time there is another stimulant?

Gonal-F is just FSH while Menopur is a mix of LH and FSH.  I used the combination of Gonal-F and Menopur for my ivf and it worked well for me.  I hope it works out for you as well.

Good luck!

I had the same combination when I did my IVF.  It also worked well for me.  I know that one of them is suppose to make them grow faster and the other is suppose to make you produce more follicles.

Thank you so much. I was getting worried about it.  The Pharmacy called me and said that my insurance does not cover menopur so they said they will replace with Repronex. Is it the same?

Both Menopur and Repronex are LH/FSH combos, so you should be fine! Good luck!

Thank you. Do I have to take the shot just like Gonal-F? Around the naval?

I had a failed IVF the first round. And now my doctor wants to change my drugs.
I went from only taking Follistem, to be taking Follistem AND Menopur.  I'll start those drugs in a few weeks. My doctor want to be able to make more eggs, better quality.
I'm really hoping this works this time. I'm trying to stay positive. With all your help, and words, I can try and find my strength

Good luck to you!! We are all here just like you and we will help each other and give strength.  My doctor added Menopur/Repronex this time. I hope it works this time.
