tachy/brady syndrome

by chr043, Sep 23, 2008 09:22PM
I am 26 years old, and for months now, my pulse has been low at any given time, like 41-45; the lowest it's been was only 38, but I didn't pass out from it. I have associated symptoms of lightheadedness and dizziness, and being tired all the time.  I have high blood pressure, but the medicine I'm on does not affect your heartrate, according to my doctor.  When I went to him Monday, my blood pressure was 178/108 and my pulse was 126.  I told him it was because I was nervous, and he said whatever's goin on could be making me feel like that.  I ended up wearing a halter monitor for 24 hours, but when I woke up three of the wires had come undone, and i noticed at some point throughout the day, another had came undone.  I was wondering if I screwed the monitoring up,  and if anyone has/or heard of sick sinus syndrome (tachycardia/bradycardia) syndrome.

I was just diagnosed with Sick Sinus Syndrome also and the doctor said that at some point I will have to get a pacemaker. He thinks I should go ahead and do it but said that I could wait until my symptoms got worse. I have the same as you right now but he said that they will eventually get worse. I don't want to get a pacemaker until I have to.
I don't think that you screwed up the monitor though. I am sure they still could get a reading from it. The problem with this is that most medications make it worse so be careful what they give you for it! Good luck to you!

I have been in the hospital since Sunday; I had a echocardiogram which showed right-sided heart enlargment and an atrial septal defect. I will be following up with another cardiologist on Tuesday.
