ACCUTANE CASE

by fevergirl649, Sep 24, 2008 05:47PM
Hello!!!!!!!!
This is Ingrid and i am 28 years old.
I have mild acne, (but the breakouts becaome pretty often 2 odd years ago).
I do not know what exactly causes it. Probably the dairy i have been eating so much for the last 2 years. So i stopped dairy a couple of months ago. Pimples did not go away....always flare ups....
I Have had acne before in my teenage years (around 14-15 years old ) on the chin.
Then no pimples for a while.
Then acne appeared around 19-20 years old but it was a different type of acne...small little white heads, looked like a rash almost. I have tried proactiv and it worked! I was pimple free until 2 years ago! What happened? I do not know if it is related to the diet, or maybe my hormones (but they seem very fine, actually  picture perfecto), or maybe it is just a phase......I am becoming a teenager again...lol
Well....whatever is causing it is a mystery to me. And these pimples are different than the ones i had before. They are more resilient!!! Grrrrr LoL
They are hard and bigger, they hurt and sometimes there is liquid (sebum) inside the pimple. I manage to drain them (yuck i know), and sometimes they go away, or sometimes they come back. So basically new ones always come back! It is still mild because it is not full blown acne, but its a pain in the ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So i tried all kinds of natual stuff like milk thistle (for liver detox and strenghtening it), a treatment i read about online.
You can google it (milk thistle and acne) so you understand how it works. Well it didnt for me LOL
I tried vit A, dermapure (herbs in capsules) like burdock, etc. I haven't tried Zinc though and haven't tried vit 5 (panthotenic acid) which you can compare to accutane regarding its effect on the sebaceous glands.
I have tried tea tree oil and oregano oil as topical antiseptic, anti bacterial, but didnt do much at all.
My pimples are stubborn.
So recently (3 weeks ago,) i went for the big pistols ACCUTANE, 20 mg.
So far so good....new breakouts are kinda gone....and skin looks clearer, less oilier....even my hair shines more and i do not have to wash it that much anymore.
Forehead is much less oilier too and that's where my pimples were appearing mostly!! Forehead is clearing up.
But i do not have any side effects of any kind, no dried lips or chapped lips, no hair loss, my hair looks healthier, and my lips are quite moist. They look nicer too! Also I noticed that accutane gives me a lot of energy....i do have a lot of energy to beggin with but accutane seems to make me feel happier, and jumpier, like in a better mood.....maybe its just my imagination but it i am in a better mood, more melow ...
I ordered the meds online from a pharmacy. I have no prescription but i dont care cuz its cheaper online. It is brand name Roche!
I went to see a derm and he didnt mind that i was on accutane just told me to go for blood tests every month (gave me a prescription). Of course i wont get pregnant (as if i really want kids lol pfffff) !! The results will be transmitted to him every month. If all is well he wont call me. I am suppose to go see him in february.
I will be on acctutane for 4 more months i guess. So far so good, love the drug, big hug!
Will deep you posted on my case....

Hi. Diet has not been proven to affect acne. Acne is caused when the sebeaceous (oil) glands are stimulated by androgens (male hormones found in both male and female bodies). Frustratingly for doctors and patients alike we don't know why some people get acne and others don't, some people are just more sensitive to the effects of androgens.
Female patients are required to use 2 forms of birth control whilst on Accutane. Taking an oral contraceptive pill (specifically Diane35, Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Cilest or Yasmin) will also block the effects of andrgoens and clear your acne quicker.
It is unusual not to experience dry lips whilst the drug shrinks your sebaceous glands. This is an expected side effect which shows your medicine is working. It is good that you are under the care of a dermatologist. However, I cannot recommend buying Accutane without a prescription. At best this tablets will be placeboes and the buyer will have wasted her money. At worst they could contain anything and could make the buyer very ill. Depending on where you live it may not be illegal to have these tablets in your pocession, but it is almost certainly illegal to post them accross borders.

Hello Eloise!!
Thank you for your comments!!!
Yes i thought the drugs are placebos at first too!! Because i do not have dry lips at all....they are actually more moist than before...
And my hair is thiker too!! Maybe because it is less oily, so it looks less wet, more full....more shinnier!!
But i bought these drugs online, and they have a good reputation A friend of mine who also had acne (but worst) bought it from the same online pharmacy (that's why i bought it too), and her acne disappeared completely!! But she DID get dry lips and other side effects, but minor.
So why would they send her the real mckoy, and send me some placebos?
And why is my hair and skin less oiler? Well i mean my forehead, cuz the rest of my face wasn't that oily.
I don't understand it myself.....but my acne IS getting better,....less breakouts, and it is clearing up. My forehead is clearing up and even the black heads are dying away.
So maybe it IS working....or maybe these placebos are making my brain think it works. You know mind over matter. Who knows, maybe when you really think it will go away, it does. But then again,my friend got cure from the same pills im taking.....
The drugs are Roche and it says it on the box and the pills. One of my friend is a nurse and she examined them and told me they are real.
Well it IS doing something, but definitely doesn't dry up my skin or my lips.....Then again, i am ONLY taking 20 mg!!! It is a very low dose, so maybe that is the reason why i am NOT getting any side effects. Maybe if i double dose and take 40mg, then i might have dried lips!!! Does it make sense?

I WILL WRITE MORE IN A NEXT MESSAGE THERE IS A LIMIT OF 8000 CARACTERS

It is the only conclusion i can come up with.

Also i am not on birth control pills and i do not want to get on them. I have always been against chemicals and artificial hormones. My hormones are well balanced and i am healthy, i have never been sick in my life, not even a mild headache or fever, or cold.
Which is odd too. The only thing i had was big sweats and feeling fatigued for 2 days, a few years ago, but i think that was a virus, and my body got rid of it through my skin pores, cuz i remember i broke down in big sweats. After 2 days, i was brand new...weird eh? So that is basically the reason why i wouldnt get on pills....i dont want to disturb my inner balance.
But i won't get pregnant, i haven't used pills for birth control ever since i became sexually active 10 years ago and never got pregnant once! So i think i can manage that well for 6 months.
Oh and about the legalness if the drug, no it's sorta black market i think cuz it comes in a package saying it's a shirt. But it is not a crime or anything....you just save money. And it's nobody's business what i decide to put into my body....
Yes accutane is chemical too i guess, but it will shut down my sebaceous glands because i DO produce too much oil. And nothing can do that but accutane or vit B5 Pantothenic acid.
So far, i am satisfied; less oil, less breakouts, MUCH less oilier HAIR and Forehead!
before i used to slide my fingers on my forehead and i could see the oil..felt like i was touching OILIVE OIL!!!! NO JOKE. it was OILYYYYY!!
Now its NORMAL!!! Not dry, not oily, just right.....
So i am happier!!!!:))

I will keep you undated on how im doing....It's been ONLY a month....
Thanks again for your comments!!!!

Hi! This is 1 month and 1 week and a half of accutane, and my skin is getting baby smooth, complexion is improving quite well. Black heads are disappearing too.
No side effects, but i do notice some slight dryness at the corners of my lips (but very mild), maybe its also due to the change of weather. I've been in and out the gym...after shower and in cold...so maybe that's why it's a little dry.
I will let you know if it gets worst. But for know i barely notice it.
I will be having blood tests in a week.
So far so good,
I do have a tender gum at the back of my wisdom tooth and this has been going on for about a week or so...maybe less. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the medication but i hardly doubt it. Probably just a local infection or like a small ulcer (never had one though). Well im a dental hygienist and everything seems ok, yet i don't know how i could have had that......its not red or swollen, just sensitive. Well maybe a little puffy, but not much.  Will ask my dentist to have a look at it. It seems like maybe ive hurt myself there with a piece of bread or some sharp food that scratched my gum. Who the hell knows.  Just hope the sensitivity goes away....im paranoid. lol Well its not a cavity, and that i know im in the field, and its not my wisdoms cuz they grew ok, and are aligned right and had them there forever. It's probably something that got stuck and irritated the gum....maybe ill apply local antiseptic....
Ok, will keep an update on my case and soon will post pictures of me.
