Does Testing Vary

by TiffanyParrish, Oct 07, 2008 03:43PM
I've been having thryoid problems, severe for about a year now... at first TSH was low .25, now it's .97 all other testing has come out normal so far. Thyroid ultrasound showed goiter right side with a very small nodule... it seems like
my body is attacked and I go in phases.... my endo is ready to give up on me, I've only seen him 3 times, says
nothing they can do since tests are normal.... I am so sick I am disabled, and I have alot of pain with my thyroid,
no biopsy has been done yet.... I am so upset, I want this thyroid removed, I cannot live this way... does anyone have any suggestions, I guess testing can vary alot is that true??

Thank you very much for any/all help!

The ibuprofen can be used to reduce pain for so called 'thyroiditis attacks' [unless you have unusual bleeding disorder]

thankyou but ibuprofen, tylenol and aspirin none is strong enough for the pain and it's getting worse there's definitely something wrong, I really think i need a biopsy for my nodule/goiter... thankyou though!!! :)

In severe cases the steroids can be prescribed; the acute phase of thyroid inflammation takes up to 4 weeks, similar to artritic pain.
have they tested TPO/TG antibodies [for Hashimoto's] and ESR [for subacute thyroiditis]?

TPO antybodies are these that atacking thyroid if thyroiditis is of autoimmune nature they produced by immune system; the ESR stands for erytrocyte sedimentation rate, if it is abnormal it indicates viral infestion [subacute painful thyroiditis]
