Strange skin spots

by sweetnss06, Dec 11, 2006 12:00AM
Hello. Over the summer, I noticed a spot on my right shin. At first I thought it was a mosquito bite, since I got several nasty ones during a trip to the shore, and this was in the same general area as several other bites. However, they faded, and this mark didn't. It's roundish (more oblong actually), about an inch or so in diameter, and smooth. It's a reddish color that changes from day to day - sometimes red, sometimes faded to almost my normal skin color. Sometimes it appears to have a ring around it, which led me to believe it may be ringworm, but I'm not quite sure where I could have gotten it, and my fiance has no sign of it. Also, although the color changes, the texture of the skin stays the same. It seems thinner than my normal skin, and when I squeeze it, it wrinkles more easily. It's also shiny. It rarely itches, but sometimes flakes like dry skin (no "scales" like I've read about psoriasis though). So about a month and a half after I noticed that spot, I noticed one on the inside of my left elbow. It looks different, maybe because the skin is different in that area. It's also rarely itchy, roundish in shape, but only half of it is reddish - the other half is skin-colored, but also smooth and shiny. It's faded to maybe 2 shades darker than my normal skin. THEN, a few weeks after that, I noticed one under my breast. Rarely itchy, now almost completely faded, but the skin is still smooth and shiny. Different from my normal skin. I've been using a combo of hydrocortisone and antifungals till I get to the doc but nothing seems to help. Any idea what this might be?

Like sweetnss, I have similar "spots" on my feet, ankles and the under side of my left arm. I can guarantee you that they are not hives as I have had mine for over 17 years now. Sometimes they go away, but are soon replaced by another or sometimes several in new locations on my feet and ankles. The only one that has not changed is the one on my arm. When they itch, nothing helps and i mean NOTHING. I have scratched them open becuase it was so bad and that didn't even help. The worst part is that when they first showed up I went to the doctor and they didn't know what it was and then sent me to a dermatologist, who also didn't have a clue. I have spent the better part of my youth and all of my adult life trying to find out what this is. If someone knows please, please give me an answer.
