by mugen81, Oct 09, 2008 12:56AM
hi there

i only have my elisa blood test on 11 week after do sex with prostitute without protection. i do this test because i think this prostitute have hiv positf because i heard from my friend maybe this prostitute have hiv and want to transfer to another person that why they try to transfer it. that why they dont want us condom.

so i want to now what risk i have and do i need futher blood test. my test is negative in 11 weeks and just test using elisa method only. do i need another test like pcr, western bolt or rapid test to confirm back.

so is conclusive enough just do the elisa test only in 11 weeks.

give me a comment because i really dont now about this.

Hi there,

I would not recommend further testing.  However, if you still doubt your test result, just get another test done at 12 weeks.

Cheers!

DEAR
IN ASIAN COUNTRY SAID, 6 MONTHS IS CONCLUSIVE. OUR DOCTORS  ARE NOT SO EXPERIENCE ABOUT IT. SPECIALLY SOME COUNTRIES LIKE MALAYSIA, SINGAPORE, BANGLADESH, MALDIVS. FOR THAT THEY SAID 6 MONTHS IS CON CLUSIVE. BUT FDA SAID 3 MONTHS IS ENOUGH FOR CONCLUSIVE RESULT.

Let me correct your comments.

Countries in Asia use 3 months test result as conclusive. Countries that you have quoted all use 3 months guidelines.

so which window period i need to follow. 3 month or 6 month. are 3 month is good enough.

by mugen81, Oct 09, 2008 08:12PM
To: Uniquelymen
but i ask my doctor in malaysia they said 6 month is the window period and i ask people from malaysia aids council they said 3 month is 90% and need to test to confirm it. i also ask ministry of health in malaysia they also said 6 month. but some people said is 3 month. maybe you can explain to me why this guideline is diffrent in this country. this is because the technology or doctor dont have experience this is because the doctor said they follow the WHO standard.

SO should i follow the cdc standard or need to follow my goverment standard. i need your advice

by Uniquelymen, Oct 09, 2008 08:37PM
Malaysia uses 3 months too...   I was there just a few months ago...... ;o )

can u tell me what is the diffrent using elisa test and rapid test.

right now i not scared i can get hiv. just want to learn something with u and share information
