Tanning and Tooth Whitening

I was once told that UV rays not only tan your skin but also whiten teeth.  So, whenever I go tanning (indoor), I smile just incase it's true.  Well I have seen products that you apply to your teeth to use while you tan, but I've always noticed my teeth getting whiter just from smiling.

Do UV rays actually whiten your teeth, or do they just look whiter in contrast to tanner skin?

ive never heard of such a thing. your oral tissue is more delicate, id close my mouth in the tanning bed ., if you dont want to spend tons of money on bleaching at the dental office, the crest white strips work well for home bleaching.

Your last comment.  They just look whiter in contrast to the darkened skin.  Tanning does NOT IN ANY WAY directly effect the color of your teeth.  Don't both smiling while tanning; it's not worth your effort.
