Hi,

“Lichen simplex chronicus (LSC) is thickening of the skin with variable scaling that arises secondary to repetitive scratching or rubbing. LSC is not a primary process. Rather, a person senses pruritus in a specific area of skin (with or without underlying pathology) and causes mechanical trauma to the point of lichenification.”

Lichen simplex may be a primary differential for your case. However, this skin condition appears to be secondary to an underlying problem which in your case is due to the sensation of crawling and tingling on your scalp. A nerve related or neural origin has to be considered here. I understand your frustration but there is no definite treatment for lichen simplex. You may ask for a neurologic referral  so that you may be further evaluated in terms of managing the sensation on your scalp.
