I couldn't take Synthroid because of the horrible joint pain that I experienced with it.  And I was NOT hypothyroid (at least the tests showed I wasn't) at the time.  It just wasn't my drug.  I tried Levoxyl too, but came back to Levothyroxine.  I also take Cytomel with it, in a small dosage.

It really depends whether you are currently hypothyroid and just starting meds or just switched to Synthroid from some other med.  I agree with Stella if you are just starting.  It takes a while to get rid of the hypo symptoms.  But if it's been six weeks or more, you're labs are good, and you're experiencing joint pain, ask for another med.  You may be sensitive to one of the fillers in Synthroid.

I have severe joint pain and I am hyperthryoid. I also need estrogen. I will post any success I have in getting relief to the joint pain! Good luck!

Joint pain is usually a symptom of being hypothyroid and not due to thyroid medication.
