is this herpes?? lichen planus? please help!

by ebro, Feb 09, 2007 12:00AM
i have been experiencing more or less constant irritation on on side of my penis for months now. it started over the summer, when i noticed the skin on my penis was peeling. so i got a herpeselect test, positive for 1 negative for 2. that put my fears to rest- went to urologist who said i had lichen planus- however since december, 2 days after a breif uprotected encounter with a female who claims to be free of disease i noticed a more intense burning sensation and on closer inspection a small red sore flat area, with a flat (painless) lesion next to it (i guess this is the lichen planus)... was in considerable pain for about a month- sore never really healed completly- brief 1 week period of less severe symptoms but after protected encounter with same person, the cyle repeated itself... the sore has faded a bit but is still visible, and the white area has not changed at all- awaiting results of recent herpeselect test.... is this still the lichen planus or do i now have herpes??? single sore, no blisters, not clustered, previous neg. test- urologist said wasnt herpes but the sore had faded a bit when i saw him....any input please???

Hi,

This could be folliculitis, acne, pimples, fordyce spots or genital warts or due to frictional trauma or due to sweat or tight clothing etc.

Nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesions and a clinical examination.

Do you have any other associated symptoms? Wear lose comfortable clothes.

You should keep the areas clean and maintain good personal hygiene. You should not be embarassed about seeing your doctor at all.

Let us know about what your doctor advises and post us about any other doubts that you might have.

Regards.
